Jhansi: Security was beefed up on the district court’s premises here on Friday after the SC/ST court judge Aditya received a registered letter in which the sender threatened to blow up his court premises between April 28 and April 30.
Sources indicated that the sender signed the letter using the designation ‘advocate’. The sender claimed that, in past judicial proceedings at Lucknow courts, members of a particular community had received harsher punishments. Citing this perception as a motive for revenge, the sender issued a threat to target the court premises.
Taking the matter seriously, the chief administrative officer of the district court instructed the police officials to take action. ASP Areeba Nomaan said that security has been beefed on the court’s premises as well as at the residence of the judge. A case has also been registered against an unidentified person. “Preliminary inquiry revealed that the letter was received from the post office on the court campus. We are tracking the source of the sender and will nab him soon,” the ASP added.
