Kanpur: A student preparing for competitive exams was brutally beaten by the drunken youths as he opposed their abusive behaviour under the Kakadeo police station area. According to the victim, he was called outside and brutally beaten by the perpetrators.
During the commotion, the owner of a nearby café intervened, but the accused vandalised his shop and physically assaulted him resulting in injuries. The incident was recorded on the café's CCTV system. Both victims have lodged complaints at the police station, and the authorities conducted medical examinations and initiated a search for the accused.
Akash Sen, originally from Subhash Nagar, Mahoba, is currently residing at Shivi Boys hostel in Kakadeo and is preparing for competitive exams. In his police report, Akash stated that on Sunday night around 10 pm, some intoxicated youths, who were not from the hostel, gathered outside and began hurling abuses.
When Akash confronted them about their behaviour, the youths forcibly removed him from the hostel premises. "It is alleged that the attackers assaulted him with sticks, rods, and sharp objects, injuring him."
He said that at about 11 pm on Sunday night, he witnessed a student being beaten outside the hostel.
When he attempted to intervene and stop the attackers, they turned their attention to him. They vandalised his café, assaulted him and behaved inappropriately with the customers present, causing chaos at the scene. The attackers managed to escape before the police arrived.
Inspector of Kakadeo police station Manoj Singh said that both victims filed reports, and the police are reviewing the CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. Medical examinations are currently underway, and a formal report is being prepared.
