Saints burnteffigy of SwamiPrasad Maurya

Kanpur: Under the banner of All India Math Mandir Committee, the saints staged a protest against Samajwadi Party’s National General Secretary Swami Prasad Maurya, in the Ghantaghar area of the city on Sunday.The saints burnt the effigy of Maurya and described him as Ravana of kalyug and demanded the government to arrest him. The saints organized a protest at the idol of Bharat Mata at the Ghantaghar crossing. Mahant Chaitanya Arun Maharaj of Siddhnath Temple said that Ramcharitmanas is the best holy book in the World.“The remarks made by Swami Prasad Maurya on the holy book are very indecent and he is trying to play with the sentiments of Hindus and saints, which is intolerable,” said Mahant Chaitanya Arun Maharaj further. During the demonstration, the saints also asked people to take the pledge of equipping every house with the holy book- Ramayana. They said that people should read books like Ramayana and Ramcharitmanas daily at home and also inform their children about it.Mahant Jitendra Das of Panki Dham temple said,”Together, we (all saints) will write a letter to SP National President Akhilesh Yadav demanding him to expel Swami Prasad Maurya from SP. Insults of Ramcharitmanas will not be tolerated.” The saints also demanded the arrest of Swami Prasad Maurya.
