Ramendra Katiyar to be new KBA president

KANPUR: Ramendra Singh Katiyar and Peeyush Awasthi were elected as president and general secretary of Kanpur Bar Association on Thursday.
Ramendra defeated his nearest rival Tarunendu Bajpai by a margin of 10 votes. Ramendra received 1044 votes while Tarunendu got support of 1034.
The returning officers accepted the request of Tarunendu Bajpai to recount the ballot papers.In the recounting, difference increased by another vote. In first counting, Ramendra had received 1043 while Tarunendu got 1035 votes.
Peeyush Awasthi got support of 1193 lawyers to become general secretary while his nearest rival Dinesh Shukla could gather 987 votes.
Counting for remaining posts would continue on Friday.
