KANPUR: The administration is busy in giving final touches to the arrangements for polling scheduled to be held at Kanpur Nagar and Akbarpur Lok Sabha seats on Thursday. The contesting parties are also putting in their best last-minute efforts to attract the voters to cast their votes.
The Congress has prepared a 3-tier system for booth management. Five volunteers under the leadership of a ward president would be deployed at every booth.
At every polling centre as many as 25 Congress workers would attend to voters. Three polling centres would be covered by a sector and it would be supervised by a sector in charge.
According to a spokesman of the Congress, besides 3-tier system, an election conducting committee consisting of 676 persons has also been constituted. AICC, PCC, city committee and office bearers of other frontal organisations of the party are members of this committee and they have been asked to stick to their respective areas till last. The leaders of Youth Congress, Mahila Congress and City Congress Committee have been asked to encourage the voters in their respective areas to cast their votes. They have been asked to cover 10 to 50 houses and request the voters to cast their votes.
BSP has also chalked out a strategy to counter the rival parties. At booth level, the party has deployed one convener and four co-conveners. Besides them, members of Bahujan Volunteer Force and workers of BAMSEF would also be present at every booth.
Samajwadi Party will depute 20 youths on every booth as part of its strategy. The party has made those polling in charge, who have either contested elections earlier or were claimant candidate of Legislative Assembly seat. The party has also asked Yuvjan Sabha and Advocate Sabha to keep a vigil on every booth and polling centre. Samajwadi Party MLA, Irfan Solanki has also deployed a team to encourage the voters to move out of their houses and cast their votes.
According to party spokesman, main focus is on encouraging more and more persons to cast their votes. For this the party has activated its area committees and various cast based committees with a co-coordinator to coordinate among them.
Bharatiya Janata Party has also been motivating the voters with the help of RSS workers since the past three days. Distribution of voters slip is near completion. For every 100 to 500 voters an in charge has been appointed. A booth head will supervise the work of three in charges. They would be supervised by sector head, regional head and zonal heads. At every legislative assembly seat, a convener would not only head the unit but also keep a vigil over its subordinates.
