Minor abducted, raped; accused arrested

Kanpur: Police have arrested a teenager identified as Mohammad Zaid, resident of Civil Lines, for allegedly abducting and raping a minor girl of a different community at a restaurant in the city.The accused allegedly abducted the girl, a class X student, while she had gone to attend classes on Monday. He then took her to a restaurant in Vikasnagar area and raped her.The incident came to light when the accused dropped the girl at her school and the school management on suspicion alerted the girl’s parents, who approached Colonelganj police with a complaint.On getting information about the matter, VHP activist Krishna Tiwari and Bajrang Dal workers reached Colonelganj police station and created a ruckus and demanded immediate arrest of the accused and his family members. They alleged that in such cases not only the Muslim youths, their entire families were involved too.ACP Colonelganj Akmal Khan said the accused had been arrested on Monday. “If involvement of his family members comes to the fore in the investigation, their name will be added to the case,” said Khan, adding, “It has came to light that the minor was raped inside a restaurant. If this is confirmed, action will also be taken against the restaurant owner.”tnn
