Man opens fire during b’day party, one injured

Kanpur: An incident of firing during a birthday party, wherein a man sustained wounds at Bhairav Ghat pumping station in the city, has come to fore on Saturday. The video of the firing incident has gone viral on social media.In the video, 12 to 14 people are seen attending the party. During this, a man took out a firearm and indulged in indiscriminate firing. During the firing, a bullet hits one Neeraj Kumar Kashyap, who had hosted his birthday party, leaving him critically injured.ACP Colonelganj Akmal Khan said, “Old kanpur resident advocate Neeraj Kumar Kashyap had organised a party on the occasion of his birthday on Friday at the pumping station at the Bhairav Ghat on the banks of river Ganga. Akash, a resident of Makdikheda, during the party took out an illegal firearm and fired in the air. The bullet, however, hit Neeraj and he slumped on the ground. His friends admitted him to a private hospital in Sarvodaya Nagar. He is undergoing treatment in the ICU.”ACP said that on the complaint of Neeraj’s brother Dheeraj, an FIR has been registered against Akash Chauhan and others. “During the investigation, a youth named Vikram was also being detained and interrogated,” ACP added.
