Man gets 8 yrs jail for minor’s kidnap, abuse

Kanpur: Additional district and session judge XIX Kanpur Nagar, Raghubeer Singh Rathore, on Saturday convicted Phool Kunwar for enticing, kidnapping and physically abusing a minor girl and sentenced him for 8 years & two months and also imposed on him a fine of Rs 12,000.
According to additional district government counsel Vinod Tripathi, the complainant had lodged a report at Kalyanpur Police station and alleged that his neighbour Phool Kunwar alias Phulwa, Rakesh and Tejni had enticed his 15-year-old daughter and kidnapped her.
When he asked about his daughter they threatened to kidnap his other daughter too. During trial, Phool Kunwar admitted his offence and said he and the girl were in love and that they had physical relations with mutual consent.
He did not know the girl was minor, he said. The presiding judge after recording his statement also observed that the term which the accused had passed in jail would be adjusted in the sentence period.
