Kanpur: A man lodged a complaint at Rail Bazar police station accusing his friend of abducting his wife and attempting religious conversion.
Accompanied by BJP workers, he alleged that his wife, who had been living at her maternal home after a marital dispute, went missing on April 10, leaving behind their two children.
He claimed his friend Aman frequently visited her at her maternal home. Later, a message received by his sister‑in‑law carried allegations from another woman, accusing Aman of misleading young women
and keeping her in Assam for eight years under the pretext of marriage.
Station in‑charge Aman Singh confirmed that an FIR was registered on the husband’s written complaint and the accused has been arrested for interrogation. Singh, however, clarified that “there is no case of religious conversion.”
