Kanpur: Vice-chairman Kanpur Development Authority (KDA)
Arvind Tripathi on Monday inspected the botanical garden site and directed the officials to examine the legal and technical aspect of the project and complete it as soon as possible so that it could be open for the public.
He also directed them to plant trees and construct walking tracks and make boating arrangements for the public.
The botanical garden project, the KDA’s dream project, had to be developed at 49.27 acre land on the bank of Ganga but due to some reasons the project could not be completed.
During the visit, chief engineer, executive engineer, horticulture, superintendent and other senior officials were present. Directing the officers, the vice-chairman stated that the park should have a spot for tourism where the people could go for their morning and evening walks, said KDA public relations officer SB Rai. Meanwhile, KDA’s anti encroachment drive continued on Monday too in Daheli Sujanpur and Sanigawan villages in zone- 4 where the squad demolished the structures raised on the KDA land and freed around 13 bigha of land worth Rs 31.20 crore. A private builder, who had done illegal plotting in Maqsoodabad village, deposited Rs 1 crore as partial compounding fee. KDA had recently demolished illegal plotting in Maqsoodabad village as a private builder did not get the site plan sanctioned by KDA. The private builder was developing around 16000 square meter on plot number 550. In his written submission the builder said that it was partial payment for compounding and the Remaining amount would be deposited once the site plan was cleared by the KDA.
The vice-chairman had clearly given a message to all private builders and developers without seeking sanction of their site plans, their plotting would be presumed as illegal and could not be accepted under the Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973.
