Talking to TOI, zoo director, K Thomas said that the vehicles would cost Rs 17 lakh. He added that the vehicles were meant for all but would benefit handicaps, children and aged visitors the most. "The vehicle will stop for sufficient time at each enclosure and cover the entire zoo," said the zoo director further.
The zoo director also said that soon six wheel-chairs and prams would be made available to visitors. The zoo would undergo a major revamp and all these activities are a part of the same," he said.Sources said that a vehicle manufacturing company of Kanpur has been selected for battery-fitted vehicles. Such vehicles are already in use in Hyderabad, Mysore and Trivanduram zoos to name a few.
