Kanpur Municipal Corporation gets video-conferencing facility

KANPUR: Mayor Jagatveer Singh Drona on Thursday inaugurated video-conferencing facility in municipal corporation building at Motijheel.
Addressing officials and others, the mayor said that the facility would enhance communication between headquarters and zonal offices of the city. Kanpur Nagar Municipal Corporation has six zonal offices besides headquarters at Motijheel.Barring zone-IV, other zonal offices were shifted to their respective localities under decentralization scheme.
However, the scheme led to communication gap between senior officials and zonal staff. Hence, it was decided to use modern technology and video conferencing facility, he added.
Rakesh Shukla, zonal head of zone-IV and public relation officer, said two distant zones number 1 and 3 were linked with headquarters through video-conferencing in the first phase. Remaining three zones would be linked in due process. Kanpur was the first city in the state to boast of such facility, he claimed.
