Kanpur jail hosts Iskcon cultural event

Kanpur: Iskcon temple on Wednesday convened a cultural programme inside the district jail and distributed approximately 200 copies of ‘Bhagwad Gita' to jail prisoners.Jail superintendent Dr BD Pandey stated that a cultural programme was organised in the district jail, Kanpur Nagar to alleviate prisoners from feelings of frustration and despair, whilst supporting their mental upliftment.A spiritual and musical programme was presented wherein the prisoners participated enthusiastically.The Iskcon speakers advised the inmates to control their mental tendencies and abstain from lust, anger, greed and highlighted significant teachings and importance of Srimad Bhagwad Gita.The jail superintendent encouraged the prisoners to engage in constructive activities and peruse beneficial literature, whilst emphasising the universality of Srimad Bhagwad Gita. tnn
