Health minister opens new primary health center in Kanpur

Hundreds of policemen, health staff and public waited under the scorching sun as health minister Ahmad Hasan arrived four hours late to inaugurate the new primary health center (PHC) at Meharban Singh Ka Purwa .

KANPUR: Hundreds of policemen, health staff and public waited under the scorching sun as health minister Ahmad Hasan arrived four hours late to inaugurate the new primary health center (PHC) at Meharban Singh Ka Purwa here on Wednesday. He also took part in the annual event of the paramedical and nursing institute named after Chaudhry Harmohan Singh during his official visit to the city.

Traffic diversions were in order because of the minister’s visit since early morning but the minister arrived four hours behind the schedule.
Senior health and administrative officials including chief medical officer (CMO) Dr RP Yadav, additional city magistrate Anoop Srivastava and superintendent-in-chief of Ursala Horseman Hospital Dr UC Sinha, were present as the minister was welcomed by students and senior officials on his arrival. The minister made several promises to upgrade health facilities in the city, including launch of toll-free ambulance scheme and nine new health posts in the city on November 1.
There were no answers to questions on the frozen appointment of over 15,000 medical personnel including AYUSH doctors, nurses and technicians under Ashirwad Child Health Guarantee Scheme of the National Rural Health Mission.
After inaugurating the PHC, Hasan conducted a meeting with health department officials to discuss the the health agenda.
Talking to TOI, CMO Dr RP Yadav informed that the health minister laid special emphasis on betterment of health facilities in the industrial city. He also assured release of more funds to create better infrastructure at district hospitals and ordered to check private practice by government doctors.

“Health minister also assured to release more funds to fulfill the medicine shortage in the city’s government hospitals. He ordered to upkeep the health facilities at district hospitals,” added the CMO.
The minister also attend medical check-up of patients by doctors at the inauguration of the PHC.
While attending the annual event of nursing and paramedical institute named after Meharban Singh, Hasan awarded three students for their best performance. Deepika, Sapna and Ajay were awarded by the health Minister for their best performances in the current academic year.
