Kanpur:A constable deployed on Police Response Vehicle/Dial-112 duty in Ghatampur area was suspended on charges levelled by ice cream and chaat vendors in the area that he ate from their stalls without paying them. A preliminary inquiry found the allegations prima facie true.

Suresh Kumar was found prima facie guilty in the inquiry, which was ordered after a complaint surfaced on social media. DCP Headquarters suspended the constable with immediate effect.
UP Adarsh Vyapar Mandal district president, Mahesh Verma, filed a complaint a few days ago on social media platform X, alleging that police personnel deployed on PRV 9303 were partaking of ice cream and golgappe without paying the shopkeepers for the eatables. After the complaint went viral, police officers took cognisance of the matter and ordered a preliminary inquiry.
According to police officers, the in-depth departmental investigation into the matter was handed over to ACP Ghatampur. During the investigation, statements of the parties concerned will be recorded and available evidence will be examined. Further departmental action will be taken on the basis of the investigation report.
ACP Collectorganj/Dial-112, Anand Kumar Ojha, said the matter had come to the department’s notice through social media. On allegations being found correct in the preliminary inquiry, constable Suresh Kumar was suspended. He said the departmental investigation is on and further action will be taken on the basis of whatever facts surface.
