Kanpur: A farmer from Gauri Kakra village made his way into the Sadh police station in a loader carrying goats, late Tuesday evening and lodged complaint about how the goats had ruined his marigold crop over the last 10 days.
He told police that these goats had caused damage to his crop worth about Rs 25,000 and that he should be compensated for the loss.
Later, owners of the goats were summoned to the police station and warned against letting them go astray into others’ fields. The goats were handed over to the owners.
Shailendra Nishad, cultivates marigold flowers which have started blooming and goats left by villagers to graze often eat the flowers from Nishad’s field. Taken aback by the loss, Nishad brought a loader and carried in it the goats to Sadh police station, four kilometers away, to file a report.
SSI Pramod Kumar said a police team was sent to the village and the owners were given back their goats with a warning against leaving them to go astray in fields of others,” he said.
