Kanpur: The police claimed to have solved the murder of a 60-year-old woman, who was done to death at her Lathi Mohal residence in Pheelkhana poice area of the city recently.
On January 31, the body of Suman Gaur (60), a resident of Lathi Mohal, Pheelkhana was found in a pool of blood in her house. The killer had slit-open her throat.
The police on Thursday claimed that going by the details of CDR (call detail record) and the CCTV footage, the murder of the elderly woman was committed by one Anil, a cable operator, and who used to frequent her house.
Several police teams have been formed and dispatched to possible hideouts of the accused -cable operator to make his arrest possible.
The police said that in the investigation so far, it is clear that the reason for the incident was not robbery. The exact motive behind the killing of elderly woman will become clear only after the arrest of the cable operator.
Initially, too the victims family members including her husband had expressed apprehension of murder on Shuklaganj, Unnao resident and a cable operator Anil.
The husband had then told the investigators that the wardrobe items of their house were found to be scattered, but the jewellery and cash were intact.
Subsequently, the police started investigation into the matter, in which CDR and the CCTV footage of the cable operator were scanned.
In the CCTV footage, the accused cable operator was seen going towards elderly woman’s house. “We have collected all the evidences and the murder was not committed for any kind of monetary gain. With the arrest of the accused, the motive behind the woman’s murder will come to the fore. Several police teams have been fanned out to make the arrest of the accused possible,” said Anand Prakash Tiwari, joint commissioner of police.
