Dimple: SP-Cong alliance stands for development

Kanpur: Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav’s wife and Kannauj MP Dimple Yadav defended Congress-SP alliance, saying it is for the development of the state.

“To end the confusion in the minds of the people, we decided to join hands with Congress. By doing so, your ‘bhaiya' (Akhilesh) showed big heart. You should ensure victory of the Congress candidates also,” she said while addressing a public gathering at Ghanta Ghar in support of SP-Congress candidate Amitabh Bajpai contesting from Arya Nagar.

Hitting at Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann ki baat’, she said the SP is interested in work and not just talks. Without taking Narendra Modi’s name, Dimple slammed demonetisation and added that it has hurt the people, especially the poor. “This government (BJP goverment) remained in the forefront in giving you all pains,” Dimple said.

“What BJP did? It made the entire country stand in the queues. Note bandi has weakened the economy. People lost their lives effort to get their money from banks. Who will take responsibility for this?” she questioned. She said that ‘note bandi’ badly affected farmers, poor, traders and even women.

She asked people had they got money in their account as promised by BJP. “Samajwadi Party is working for the upliftment of women. We are providing pension to 55 lakh women. We will now associate one crore women with the pension scheme wherein they will get Rs 1,000 as pension each month. We will also reserve 33% vacancies in government jobs for women," Dimple said.

Dimple said that when the SP government distributed laptops to students, the BJP had said that it was a toy given to children. She said that for the better future of the children, laptop was given. She added that if SP comes to power again, its government would give smartphones to the poor so that they could make a direct connect with the government and learn about the government schemes which will be meant for them.

She highlighted the achievements of SP government by saying that Kanpur zoo got a mini-train and soon Kanpur will have metro. She lauded the 102 and 108 ambulance service and counted the 1090 women helpline number as a highly regarded service by the SP government.

She mentioned about better power scenario in Kanpur. She said that cities like Kanpur are being given 24 hours of power supply. “When we will come back to power again, the government would try to give 24-hour power supply to all the cities,” she said.

She retierated that the state has maximum population of youth and it is the time for the youngsters to come forward to pick their chief minister. She said that people have made their mind whom they want to see as their CM.

Due to Dimple's rally at Ghantaghar crossing near Kanpur Central, traffic jam occurred.

Former Union minister in UP Sriprakash Jaiswal, senior SP leader, Surendra Mohan Agarwal, SP state spokesperson Juhi Singh and others shared the dias with Dimple.
