CSJMU marks 200th anniv of Hindi Journalism Day
Kanpur: To mark the 200th anniversary of Hindi Journalism Day, Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU) on Saturday organized a special virtual lecture, bringing together academicians, media professionals and students to attend the event.
The virtual programme featured Padum Narayan Dwivedi, state information commissioner of the UP govt, as the keynote speaker, while vice-chancellor, Vinay Kumar Pathak presided over the event.
Addressing the gathering, Dwivedi said the nature of journalism was changing rapidly and social media-based journalism had gained significant momentum. However, he cautioned that the growing influence of social media had also increased the threat of fake news.
The university's vice-chancellor, Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak, congratulated the department of journalism on this timely event.
Head of the Department, Diwakar Awasthi, said that Hindi journalism had undergone significant changes. Contemporary journalism was no longer confined solely to newspapers; rather, it was evolving into digital media, wherein AI was playing a pivotal role.
In this context, he emphasized the importance of reading newspapers to the students. In the final phase of the program, the students satisfied their curiosity by asking questions of the keynote speaker, Padum Narayan Dwivedi.
