Court rejects bail in fake deg racket
Kanpur: Additional sessions judge Nisha Srivastava on Wednesday rejected the bail pleas of Arjun Yadav from Unnao and Raghav Sarraf from Faridabad (Haryana), both accused of being involved in preparing fake degrees.
Their gang was busted by the Kidwai Nagar police on Feb 19. Assistant district govt counsel Vinod Tripathi pleaded that the police had already filed a chargesheet against the accused and a probe is underway in the matter. He added that Yadav was engaged in financial transactions with the co-accused and both of them were key members of the gang involved in preparing fake educational degrees. Tripathi argued that the trial has yet to begin and warned that granting bail would allow the accused to tamper with evidence, with a strong possibility of them absconding. He urged the court to reject their bail applications under these circumstances.
The two accused submitted that they were fabricated in this case. Their name was not in the FIR and they were named in the racket by other accused due to enmity. Besides, nothing was recovered from their possession, they added.
After hearing both sides, the judicial official dismissed the bail applications of the accused.
