KANPUR: An NGO organised a programme on Sunday to educate youth about the need to curb female foeticide. The punch line of the programme was `Kanya ko marvaoge to dulhan kaha se paoge.'
More than 500 youth, including girls, participated in the programme.
Ravi Pandey, member of the NGO said that the society is responsible for the heinous crime of female foeticide where a girl child is killed even before its birth.

Abdul Mannan expressed concern over the declining male-female ratio and held female foeticide responsible for it.
Senior politician Harish Matreja expressed concern over the issue and said that gender imbalance has become a serious problem for the country.
Social activist Prakash Pandey said that there is a dire need is to spread awareness against the evil of female foeticide.
Bureaucrat Saumya Agarwal said that the need of the hour is to hold such programmes in rural areas also.
The programme came to an end with a cultural programme. The main attraction of the show was a dance play directed by Tanuja Bajpai in which eight girls performed.
