Communicable Disease Control Campaign intensifies, 35 Homes Surveyed
Kanpur: Various activities were carried out under the Special Communicable Disease Control Campaign and Dastak Abhiyan on Friday.
District malaria officer Arun Kumar Singh, senior malaria inspector Prashant Kumar Verma, SFW Avneesh Singh, and IFW Arvind Kumar conducted an inspection of Babu Lal Ka Hata in the urban area. The team also visited the mohallas under the jurisdiction of DTC Harjender.
Under the campaign, house-to-house activities were inspected on April 24, 2026. During the visit, the team contacted residents, gathered information related to the campaign, and raised awareness about preventive measures against communicable and vector-borne diseases. Information on the symptoms and preventive measures for 12 identified major diseases under the campaign was also shared. People were advised to get themselves tested immediately at a government hospital upon noticing any symptoms.
Pamphlets were distributed in urban areas by Asha and Anganwadi workers, which were also inspected. Additionally, meetings were held with local public representatives and citizens to discuss the prevention of vector-borne diseases, in which people showed active participation.
During the inspection, 35 homes were surveyed, and 171 water containers were checked, in which no larvae were found.
During the visit, it was also observed that work is being carried out in accordance with drain cleaning, bush cutting, and the Panchayati Raj microplan. The Animal Husbandry Department made livestock owners aware of keeping animal enclosures outside residential areas. Pig farmers were also advised to keep pig enclosures away from populated areas. The Agriculture Protection Department raised awareness about diseases such as Scrub Typhus.
Under the campaign, source reduction in urban areas, bleaching powder spraying in rural areas, indoor space spray, and larvicidal spraying in drains were carried out. Through entomological surveys, locations where larvae were breeding were identified and instructions were issued to destroy them. People were appealed to prevent waterlogging, remove stagnant water, apply burnt mobile oil or kerosene as required, use mosquito-repellent cream, and keep their bodies covered.
For reporting and obtaining information related to communicable diseases, the helpline numbers 0512-2333810 and 9335301096 of the control room at UHM Hospital, Parade, are active. Additionally, information can also be provided on the helpline numbers 0512-2526004 and 2526005 of the control room located at Nagar Nigam, where teams are taking prompt action in the respective areas based on complaints received.
