Class X student who scored 92% found dead in Kanpur; was ‘not satisfied’ with marks
KANPUR: A 16-year-old student who scored 92% in her CBSE Class X examination allegedly died by suicide in Ratanpur Shivalik Bhavan under the Panki police station area on Thursday evening as she was reportedly not satisfied with her marks.
According to family members, the girl cleared her high school examination with 92% from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Armapur. However, she was reportedly not satisfied with her score.
Police said her father died several years ago. She lived in a rented house with her mother and brother. Her brother had also studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya earlier, but had to drop out after their financial situation worsened following their father's death.
Since then, their mother has been supporting the family by working at a clothing showroom.
Late Thursday evening, the woman called her daughter but got no response. Worried, she called her son and asked him to put his sister on the line. When the boy went to the room on the first floor, he found her hanging from a noose. The family immediately informed the police.
During the investigation, police recovered a voice note the student had sent to friends from her mobile. In it, she expressed deep distress and said she no longer wanted to live.
Panki police station in-charge Manoj Singh Bhadauria said that no written complaint has been received from the family members yet, and action would be taken after investigation based on the voice recording and other evidence.
