KANPUR: A group of advocates burnt the effigy of Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif near Topwala Gate on Wednesday and asked the Centre to snap ties with Pakistan. Advocate Kailash Shukla said that Pakistan soldiers were repeatedly flouting ceasefire on the border and killing Indian soldiers. He lamented that instead of giving a befitting reply, the Centre had remained silent on the issue.

Earlier, the advocates carried the effigy in a procession on court premises and raised anti-Pakistan slogans. BJP's district president Surendra Maithani, Anoop Dwivedi, Aditya Pandey and Ravindra Rajput were also present.
