KANPUR: Six out of 105 candidates withdrew their nominations from the forthcoming annual general election of the Kanpur Bar Association, slated to be held here on Wednesday (October 7).
The elders committee rejected the nomination of just one candidate, Rakesh Kumar Shukla, who had filed his candidature for the members post in senior executive committee.
Reason for the rejection was that he was the former member of the committee. One candidate, Aradhana Verma, who had filed her nomination for two posts--joint secretary library and joint secretary administration-- withdrew her name from both the posts in the last hour of withdrawal.
Other candidates who have withdrawn their names are Ajay Kumar Srivastava for treasurers post, Ram Prakash Verma for vice-president's post, Pradeep Srivastava for joint secretary publication and Rajesh Jaiswal for member of senior executive committee.
Now, after withdrawal and rejection, 99 candidates are in the fray. The elders committee released the final list of candidates who are contesting the election for various posts. According to the list, 11 candidates are contesting for the president's post while there are five candidates for another key post- general secretary. Similarly, there are 10 candidates for senior vice-president and 11 candidates for vice-president's post.
Meanwhile, the elders committee issued notices to six candidates for flouting the code of conduct and asked them explain why action be not taken against them. According to a member of the committee, the candidates had not only taken out procession, but also pasted large posters and banners on the court campus.
Following are the candidates for the key posts- President- Ashok Kumar Sharma, Indra Pal Singh Bhadoria, Tarunendra Bajpai, Mahendra Kumar Dixit, Ram Krishna Sharma, Ram Gopal Pandey, Ramendra Singh Katiyar, Lajjaram Yadav, Vijay Gopal Srivastava, Vimlesh Kumar Pandey, Srinarayan Shukla, Sr vice-president- Jagat Pal Singh Sengar, Pramod Kumar Srivastav, Mahmud Hussain, Ram Onkar Vishwakarma, Ram Prakash Verma, Ramesh Chandra Chaurasia, Ravindra Kumar Awasthi, Subhash Chandra Verma, Syd Sikandar Alam. Vice-president- Arvind Kumar Dixit, Awadhesh Singh Parihar, Krishna Kumar, Munna Lal, Rekha Mishra, Ramendra Narayan Mishra, Vivek Shukla, Wasim Akhtar, Sidha Shankar Misra, Sunil Kumar Tripathi, Srikant Chaturvedi. General secretary- Avinash Chandra Bajpai, Naresh Chandra Tripathi, Manoj Trivedi, Ramakant Tewari, Shyam Ji Srivastava. Treasurer- Ajay Kumar Dwivedi, Anil Kumar Misra, Ram Prakash Verma, Ramesh Prasad Mishra and Sanjay Kumar Agarwal.
