Jodhpur: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot is facing ‘opposition’ from his own supporters on his home town.After two of Gehlot’s loyalists decided to contest polls, another close aide Rameshwar Dadhich has turned rebel by announcing to contest from Soorsagar constituency as Independent candidate. Dadhich, first elected mayor of the city, declared contesting from Soorsagar after the Congress fielded Shahbaz Khan, son of the newly appointed RPSC member Ayub Khan, who had lost from Soorsagar in 2018.Speaking to media on Sunday, Dadhich said there is resentment against Khan and he decided to contest on the insistence of his supporters. “Party has given tickets against wishes of people. My name was in survey and I was assured to get ticket. So, in the present circumstances, honouring the wishes of people, I will file nomination as Independent on Monday.”Gehlot, who had reached Jodhpur on Sunday evening, said that such voices of dissent are normal.

Rajasthan polls: Gehlot loyalist among 21 in Congress's final list

The Congress party has released its final list of 21 candidates for the Rajasthan assembly elections, with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's influence evident in the selection process. Controversial minister Shanti Dhariwal has been nominated for the Kota North constituency. The Congress will be contesting in 199 out of 200 constituencies, leaving Bharatpur to its ally RLD. Gehlot's confidant Dharmendra Rathore did not receive a party ticket.

ED 'distributing' money during elections: Ashok Gehlot

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of transporting money for distribution during the assembly polls, without providing further details. Gehlot called on the Election Commission of India to intervene in the matter. The ED recently alleged that the promoters of the 'Mahadev' betting app paid around Rs 508 crore to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Baghel has denied the allegations. Gehlot also criticized the ED for not taking any action against a BJP leader and stated that agencies like the ED, CBI, and I-T were targeting politicians.

MP assembly polls: Congress expels 39 leaders for contesting against party's official candidates

The Congress party in Madhya Pradesh has expelled 39 members for six years for running against the party's official candidates in the upcoming state assembly elections. These expelled leaders are contesting as independent candidates or under the ticket of other parties such as the Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party, and Aam Aadmi Party. Prominent names among those expelled include former MP Premchand Guddu, former MLA Antar Singh Darbar, and state party spokesman Ajay Singh Yadav.
