Jodhpur cops file 3,150 pending chargesheets, 1,772 FRs in courts

Jodhpur: Jodhpur range police has filed 3,150 chargesheets and 1,772 final report (FRs) in the court in June and July. These chargesheets and FRs had been pending since long and were taken up after the recent direction of the DGP for the disposal of their pendency in different police stations of the state.IGP (Jodhpur Range) Jai Narayan Sher said that a special drive was launched in all the police stations of the range and the SHOs were directed to file the pending chargesheets and FRs in the court as soon as possible.“For this, the circle officers were directed to personally visit the police stations and undertake a physical verification of the pending chargesheets and FRs at the police stations," Sher said.“On June 1, total 3,567 chargesheets and 2,281 FRs were pending in the police stations of all six districts of Jodhpur range," he said.During the two months drive, 2,959 fresh chargesheets and 1,508 fresh FRs added to the already pending files, shooting up the total number of charge sheets to 6,526 and FRs to 3,789.“Of this, we filed 3,150 chargesheets and 2,281 FRs in the court during this period of two months from June 1 to July 31,” said the IGP, adding that the pending chargesheets and FRs will also be filed expeditiously.Sher said that the delay in filing of chargesheets and FRs not only slows down the process of disposal of cases at the court level but also delays the justice to be delivered to the affected parties. He said that the timely filing of chargesheets ensures commencement of trial in time, while the timely filing of FRs in the court leads to final disposal of the cases at the investigation level.A chargesheet is to be filed within 60 days from the date of arrest of the accused in the cases triable by the lower courts and within 90 days in the cases triable by the session courts.
