Winter on the wane, sunny days back again

Jaipur: A noticeable seasonal transition is underway in Rajasthan as rising daytime temperatures bring warm and comfortable afternoons, prompting people to put away winter clothing during the day. However, winter has not completely loosened its grip, with mornings and nights still cold in several parts of the state, particularly in Shekhawati region, where cold-wave conditions persist.On Sunday, most places in the state recorded a rise in maximum temperatures. In Jaipur, the mercury climbed to 27.8°C, though the minimum remained low at 11.7°C, highlighting the sharp contrast between day and night temperatures. The daytime warmth resulted in people stepping out without woollens, but mornings still demanded warm clothing, especially during the early hours.
Barmer was the hottest in the state, with a maximum temperature of 31°C, reflecting the intensifying heat over western Rajasthan. Several districts reported maximum temperatures 3 to 4 degrees above normal, reinforcing the warming trend.In contrast, the Shekhawati region continued to remain under the grip of cold wave. Fatehpur recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 4.9°C. Sikar, Churu, and adjoining areas also experienced biting cold during morning hours, with temperatures still significantly below normal.According to meteorological officials, clear skies and cold northerly winds are responsible for the chilly mornings and nights, while strong sunlight during the day is pushing temperatures higher. No rainfall was recorded anywhere in Rajasthan during the past 24 hours, and dry weather conditions are expected to continue. The met department indicated that while daytime temperatures are likely to rise further in the coming days, cold conditions may persist during mornings in northern districts.In its forecast, Met office said mercury is likely to take an upward swing except in some parts of Shekhawati region.
