Vaccination camps begin for Haj pilgrims

Jaipur: Vaccination camps for Haj pilgrims will start from Sunday across the state. Last year, around 2,500 pilgrims from Rajasthan had gone to perform Haj but now the quota has been increased and so far, around 6,000 Haj pilgrims will likely go for Haj pilgrimage.
For the first time, the health department has been directly involved in providing medical certificates for Haj pilgrims. Earlier, private doctors could provide medical certificate to the Haj pilgrims but now only government doctors can do so.
“The two doses of Covid-19 vaccination have been made compulsory for Haj pilgrims. Those who have not been vaccinated with two Covid-19 doses, will not be allowed for Haj,” said Mehmood Ali Khan, executive officer, Rajasthan State Haj Committee. Besides, quadrivalent meningococcal meningitis vaccine (QMMV) and seasonal influenza vaccines (for only vulnerable age groups) will start from Sunday. The vaccination camps will continue till May 14. For vaccination of Haj pilgrims in Ajmer, Jalore, Sirohi and Tonk, a camp will be organised on May 7. In Jaipur, camps will be organised from May 11 to May 13.
