Three killed in road mishap in Amber, 3 others injured
Jaipur: Three persons were killed and three others sustained grievous injuries after a jeep in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary truck near Kunda area under the limits of Amber police station in Jaipur on Sunday morning.
The Amber police station has identified the victims as Sitaram Meena (28) driver of the jeep, Lakshma Devi and Nanni Devi. “The victims are relatives and they were travelling from a village near Amber and were headed to Kanota to visit a temple when their jeep rammed into a stationary truck,” said Ranjeet Singh, investigation officer at Amber police station.
Singh said that the jeep was speeding and the driver lost control after which it rammed into a truck. There was panic after the accident with many vehicles on the highway rushing to help the injured. The injured also include a kid.
The local shop keepers and villagers informed the ambulance and the police about the accident on the highway. The jeep was completely flattened after the accident. The other vehicles trailing behind the jeep also piled up but no injuries were reported.
The villagers rescued the injured who were trapped inside the jeep and rushed them to the hospital. The civil defence teams also used gas cutters to rescue the other injured. “The driver of the vehicle, Sitaram Meena, died on the spot after the collision,” said a police official. “The injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital. Some of them have been discharged after the treatment,” Singh said.
The police also said they are probing if the driver had lost control over the vehicle due stray cattle. “Often drivers on this stretch drive at dangerous speed and ram into trees, shops or other vehicles,” said an official of the Jaipur police, adding that reasons behind the accident are being investigated.
