Student protest forces recall of six teachers from election duty in Bundi
Jaipur: Six govt school teachers deployed on election-related work were relieved of their duties Tuesday after students and parents from a govt primary school in Bundi district protested a teacher shortage that disrupted classes for months.
The protest was triggered at the Govt Primary School in Ralri village, which had only one teacher, Ikramuddin, who was on election duty since February. In his absence, panchayat elementary education officials sent substitute teachers from other schools on a rotational basis, a stopgap that affected teaching and learning.
On Tuesday, students and their parents locked the school premises and demonstrated outside the sub-divisional magistrate's office, demanding permanent teacher appointments. They raised slogans including, "We want to study; appoint teachers in our school," and submitted a memorandum to the tehsildar.
By afternoon, six teachers assigned to election work — preparation of voter lists for the Panchayat General Elections 2026 and Urban Local Body General Elections 2026 — were relieved: Ikramuddin (Govt Primary School Ralri), Ramesh Kumar Sharma (Govt Upper Primary School Gurajniya), Surendra Kumar Bairwa (Govt Upper Primary School Badi Padap), Tulsiram Meena (Govt Senior Secondary School Modsa), Avishrant Purohit (Govt Senior Secondary School Suvania) and Manoj Kumar Sharma (Govt Senior Secondary School Dei).
An order issued by SDM Nainwa said, "They are directed to ensure they report for their subsequent attendance at their original place of posting. The attendance of the personnel for the period spanning from April 11-28 is hereby certified."
