Smaller districts outperform big cities in grievance redressal efficiency
Jaipur: District-wise grievance redressal data highlights several mid-sized districts outperforming larger cities in administrative efficiency when measured by the percentage of grievances resolved. According to Rajasthan Sampark figures, among the top-performing districts, Sawai Madhopur emerged as a standout, resolving 95.21% of grievances registered between March 23 and Dec 31, 2025. The district disposed of 84,363 out of 88,605 complaints, placing it among the most efficient administrations in the state despite limited resources.Alwar followed closely with a redressal rate of 94.87%, while Bharatpur cleared 95.16% of grievances during the period. Tonk and Bhilwara also featured among the leaders, each resolving over 94.9% of registered complaints, reflecting steady field-level monitoring and faster verification.
In contrast, some of the state's largest and most grievance-heavy districts slipped in percentage terms. Jaipur, despite disposing of the highest number of grievances in absolute terms, recorded a redressal rate of 93.56%, leaving a pendency of 18,536 complaints, the highest in the state.Jodhpur, another major urban centre, posted a redressal rate of 93.91%, while Sikar and Kota hovered around the 94% mark, placing them below the state's top efficiency performers.Chief Secretary V Srinivas described the Rajasthan Sampark as a national best practice, noting that it is personally reviewed and supervised by the chief minister. He said, "The system is designed to ensure timely, qualitative and meaningful grievance redressal."According to him, monthly grievance redressals ranged between 2.5 and 3 lakh cases, with daily disposals often crossing 10,000. The average disposal time was about 14 days, with citizen satisfaction levels at 63%.Srinivas pointed out that district-wise data analytics reveal efficiency gaps across different regions. He said, "The Department of Administrative Reforms will initiate targeted interventions in high-volume urban districts to address these disparities, while smaller districts already demonstrated that high redressal rates are achievable with tighter supervision and quicker decision-making."Outlining the steps being taken to improve the redressal system, he said, "The focus will be on improved categorisation of grievances, training programmes for grievance officers, and the use of intelligent monitoring dashboards to identify root causes of complaints."The aim, he said, is to ensure reforms that are people-, policy- and process-centric, thereby strengthening the overall grievance redressal framework in Rajasthan.govt experts said that percentage-based redressal offers a better measure of administrative responsiveness than raw disposal numbers, as it captures how effectively districts keep pace with new complaints.
