Sikar Road gangrape accused sent to judicial custody
Jaipur: A local court in Jaipur Thursday sent all three accused arrested in the alleged gangrape case near Sikar Road to judicial custody, while the Test Identification Parade (TIP) is still pending.
Police said they are preparing to file an early chargesheet and assured the survivor that her identity would remain protected throughout the investigation.
According to police, the incident surfaced Wednesday after the survivor alleged that she had gone to a temple with an acquaintance when three youths intercepted them, assaulted the man accompanying her, tied his hands and legs, and gangraped her Monday.
“All the accused were arrested within hours of the incident. Our team has so far collected strong electronic and circumstantial evidence in the case,” a senior police officer said. Police also claimed that several objectionable photographs of women were recovered from the mobile phones of the accused, which are now being examined forensically.
Police said the survivor’s statement has been recorded and officials are also probing whether the accused were involved in similar offences earlier.
