JAIPUR: Anil Aran, a freelance journalist, alleged that an IAS probationer,
Tina Soni, issued orders to demolish his house on the pretext that the house was not regularised.
Although the scribe had shown documents claiming that his house was built before 1991 and was regularised, it was not heeded. His younger brother Sunil Aran went to Soni with the papers, but was beaten up by the police.
Sunil was rushed to the hospital.
"The moment I reached hospital, I was arrested by police under CrPC 151 for disrupting peace and harmony. They imposed a false charge that I misbehaved with the government officials," said Aran.
He alleged that he was not even allowed get bail on personal bonds and remained in jail for five days.
Aran had earlier reported how Soni had asked her servants to cut trees outside her official residence which were used for furniture. This story was widely carried by local and state level media with pictures.
Public Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL), after examining media reports and documents from local civil rights activists, said the scribe has been falsely implicated in the cases. Kavita Srivastava, general secretary, PUCL said: "The reports show that Aran was victimised for bringing out truth."
In fact, in 1991, he was awarded by the state government for his reporting on issues like environment and customers rights.
