JAIPUR: On the penultimate day for filing nominations for the December 7 Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) elections, ousted RCA president Sanjay Dixit put forward his candidature, but this time for the post of secretary. From the same camp, Amit Sharma has filed nominations for executive committee member while K K Sharma filed his papers for the post of joint secretary.
Mali and Dixit were not available for comment. Members of the faction who came forward to file the nominations confirmed that they enjoy the support of 15 members and were sure of victory. The Grapevine has it that while Mali's candidature is still under cloud and will depend on Union minister for rural development and panchayti raj C P Joshi's move on Friday.
A source within the camp said, "Nothing can be said conclusively for Mali, but this is for sure that Sanjay Dixit will not withdraw his candidature." This is indication enough that the ruing party hasn't yet decided whom to field, but one thing is for certain that in the Congress versus Modi fight, Dixit will play a key role.
The Modi camp on Thursday landed in the Pink City in full strength and claimed they have the required number of votes and will file the nominations on behalf of Lalit Modi, who might remain absent from the nomination process.
Sources confirm that the union minister too will file his nominations and is expected to reach the city early on Friday morning.
