RMC employee held in fake FMG certificate racket
Jaipur: Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) Thursday arrested a Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC) employee for allegedly facilitating the registration of foreign medical graduates using forged Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) screening examination certificates.
The accused has been identified as Farhan Hasan alias Farhan Naqvi, a resident of Malpura in Tonk district.
Investigators said foreign MBBS graduates are required to clear the FMG Screening Examination before obtaining registration to practise medicine in India.
However, the probe revealed that several foreign medical graduates who had allegedly failed the examination procured forged qualifying certificates through an alleged kingpin, Bhanaram Mali.
Using the forged certificates, the candidates allegedly secured registration with the Rajasthan Medical Council, obtained temporary registration and were allotted internships at medical colleges across Rajasthan with the alleged connivance of council officials and employees.
According to SOG, Hasan was posted as a verifying officer (junior assistant) in the registration section of the council during 2023-24. His official responsibility was to verify the authenticity of documents submitted by foreign medical graduates and submit reports to the registrar.
Investigators alleged that instead of carrying out mandatory verification, Farhan, in conspiracy with other officials, submitted favourable reports certifying forged documents as genuine, thereby facilitating registrations.
Earlier in the case, police had arrested 17 foreign medical graduates who allegedly secured registration and internships using forged certificates. Former RMC registrar Dr Rajesh Sharma, upper division clerk Akhilesh Mathur, alleged kingpin Bhanaram Mali and a broker were also arrested.
Investigators alleged that Bhanaram charged between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 30 lakh per candidate for arranging forged certificates and securing registration, while Farhan allegedly received between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 5 lakh for each case.
Officials said the investigation is continuing to determine how many more candidates obtained registration through forged documents and to identify other members of the alleged conspiracy.
