Modern education system has forgotten its prime objective in greed of getting a good job, money, marks and percentage. It seems this education system has become a factory to create labourers.
Saurabh Raj, assocaited with 'Gandhi Fellowship', along with his team has started 'citizen for tomorrow project' to achieve the main objective of education.
The children from a government school in remote village Thani Chhoti, Rajgadh Tehsil of Churu district, Rajasthan are defining real meaning of education. They started a new chapter by building a
Decomocracy Club
for change. "Due to tremendous efforts and efficient leadership of the children of Democracy Club we were able to organise the most successful session of Parents -Teachers federation", said Radheshyam Meena, Principal of the school.
"We also created history by clearing development related proposal of Rs 5 -lakh unanimously, which was pending for many years," he said. Under the leadership of Child citizens, villagers passed the resloution. During this, the children understood, examined and checked the local administrative system. Apart from this, child citizens are creating awareness among the people for duties and rights of the citizen through a campaign 'Government Property, Our property'.
A workshop is being organised regularly on the Preamble of Constitution and duties and rights of citizen for intellectual development and this helps in creating awareness in the society.
Hrithik, a 8th class student said he didn't know about the bad effects of disrimination on the basis of caste and religion and he used to misbehave with children of other castes, but through these workshops he realised his mistake and understood that there should be no discrimination on these grounds.
Ishika, a child citizen, says that she wants to write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighting the problem of the society. She wants to contribute to the growth of society by becoming a social worker.
The youth of the village are also supporting the Child citizens by every means possible to achieve success in this project. They guide the children in congregational activities and for their own skill development participate in the citizen workshop.
On one hand the project is encouraging the citizen education, while on the other hand the child citizens are also inspiring the people of the society to become a responsible citizen.
