Punjab top cop escapes car accident

Jaipur: A major tragedy was averted after a car ferrying a senior Punjab police officer hit another car near the central jail in Transport Nagar area on Sunday.

According to traffic police, the incident took place at 1 pm when two cars of Punjab police were passing by the area when car the in front applied breaks due to which the car in behind hit the car in front.

"As per the initial information, AIG Guru Charan Singh was in one of the cars. It was a minor accident as nobody was hurt. But it did lead to traffic chaos in the area," said a police official.

All the roads of the city have been facing the problem of the waterlogging after two days of incessant rains. "While there was a long jam in the area since morning, the haphazard parking also added to the problem.

Several cars in the jam were moving bumper-to-bumper. The accident took place after one car applied brake suddenly," the official said.
