Paper leak: Absconding SI arrested, sister still on the run
Jaipur: Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) Wednesday arrested a wanted sub-inspector who allegedly secured his selection by studying a leaked question paper before the Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination-2021, officials said.
ADG (SOG) Vishal Bansal said the accused, Dinesh Kumar, a resident of of Sanchore in Jalore district, was arrested on Tuesday with the assistance of Jalore Police. The SI 2021 exam was cancelled on May 8.
According to investigators, Kumar and his sister, Nirma Kumari, allegedly obtained the solved question paper before the examination through their acquaintance with Jagdish Bishnoi, who has been identified by investigators as a key figure in the paper leak syndicate.
Police alleged that the siblings studied the leaked paper before appearing for the examination conducted on September 15, 2021.
According to the investigation, Kumar scored 141.55 marks out of 200 in Hindi and 167.89 marks out of 200 in General Knowledge. His sister secured 180.94 marks in Hindi and 156.90 marks in General Knowledge.
Officials said Kumar’s performance earned him a merit rank of 182 and eventual selection as a sub-inspector.
Investigators noted that although Nirma Kumari secured high marks in the written examination, she allegedly failed to answer questions during the interview and did not obtain the minimum qualifying marks required for final selection.
Before becoming a sub-inspector, Kumar served as a constable in Udaipur district as part of the 2015 batch. Following his selection, he was posted in Chittorgarh district and later assigned to the Reserve Police Lines there after completing training.
SOG officials said a prima facie case was established against him during the investigation and he was directed to join the probe. However, he allegedly absconded from the Reserve Police Lines in Chittorgarh in September 2025 and failed to appear before investigators.
A reward of Rs 10,000 had subsequently been announced for information leading to his arrest.
Kumar was produced before a court on Wednesday, which remanded him to police custody until June 8.
Police said his sister, Nirma Kumari, remains absconding and efforts are under way to trace her.
Officials said detailed interrogation of the accused is continuing.
