One more arrested in jr engineer exam paper leak case
Jaipur: The Special Operations Group (SOG) wing of the Rajasthan police has arrested another accused in the Junior Engineer (JE) Combined Recruitment Examination–2020 paper leak casem, the police said Monday.
The police identified the accused as Bhim Singh, who was part of the paper leak racket.
So far, several accused, including kingpins Jagdish Bishnoi, Ganpat Malwada, Anil alias Sher Singh Meena, Bhupendra Saran, Ganpat Lal, and Suresh have been arrested in this case.
Additional Director General of Police (SOG) Vishal Bansal said that the JE recruitment exam held in December 2020 was cancelled after the question paper was leaked. In this regard, an FIR was registered at Sanganer police station.
“Following the cancellation, the re-examination for Junior Engineer (Civil Degree) was conducted Sept 12, 2021. However, during the investigation, based on interrogation of previously arrested members of the paper leak gang, confidential inputs, and technical analysis, it was revealed that the question paper of the re-exam had also been leaked before the examination. Thus, we registered a fresh FIR Jan 19, 2026,” said Bansal.
Singh was arrested on April 17. He was produced before the court and was remanded in police custody.
“In his interrogation, it is found that he operated a coaching institute in Bansur and also ran a computer lab in Jaipur for online exam preparation. He, along with co-accused Ganpat Malwada and Bhupendra Saran, used to gather candidates in Jaipur, provide them with leaked papers through tablets and iPads, and later send them to their respective examination centres,” Bansal added.
“During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the gang used electronic devices such as Samsung tablets and Apple iPads to train candidates by providing them with leaked question papers. While tracing these devices, the name of the accused Bhim Singh emerged. He was on the run for a long time,” he added.
Investigators revealed that each candidate was charged Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh, which was distributed among gang members. The tablet used in the crime has also been recovered from his possession.
Further investigation is on to trace the source of the leak and identify all beneficiaries involved.
