No hiring of retired officials in sensitive, cash-related work

JAIPUR: Rajasthan government has fixed guidelines for reemploying retired government personnel on a contractual basis.

Notice issued by the

department

of personnel (

DoP

) on Tuesday, restricted such employees from posting in sensitive duties and handling cash related work.

As per the directives, the appointment on a contract basis would be for a year initially. This can further be extended for one more year. However, beyond that, approval from finance and DoP would be mandatory with reasoning from the concerned department.

Retired government personnel will only be recruited where there are clear vacancies but people are needed for work in public interest. As soon as government makes recruitment of regular employees on these post, services of contractual employees will deemed terminated.

Directions also noted that age of contractual employees should not exceed 65 years. They will not be entrusted with work which are sensitive, confidential in nature or that involves accounting and cash.

Department have also been asked to ensure that such appointments do not affect the promotion of junior

officials

. Also those employees who were forced to take retirement or had faced punishment during their tenure will not be considered for the reemployment.

“These directions will act as a rule book for the departments, committees, commissions and government institutions where service rules are yet to be framed” said an official from DoP. “There are certain vacancies which are expected to take some time in filling due to litigations or other reasons. Guidelines will help in making alternate arrangement for that” added the official
