NIA court frames charges against 8 in Gogamedi murder

Jaipur: An NIA court has framed charges against eight accused in the murder of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, who was chief of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena. The court had ordered framing of charges on Dec 2.

Special public prosecutor Snehdeep Khyalia said that the charges were read out to six of the accused Thursday.

Gogamedi was shot dead inside his residence in Jaipur's Shyam Nagar on Dec 5, 2023. Investigators said two assailants—Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji—entered his house and opened fire, killing him on the spot. The murder sparked protests, and the probe was handed over to NIA.


In June last year, the NIA filed a chargesheet in the case, naming several suspects, including wanted gangsters Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar as key suspects. Besides them, two others accused in the case, Mahendra Kumar and Virendra Charan, are also absconding.

Investigators said Godara, the principal mastermind in the case, hatched the murder conspiracy with Charan, Brar, and others. After the killing, Godara and Brar publicly claimed responsibility for it. Investigators said Gogamedi's murder was used to amplify the gang's criminal influence and extort money from other individuals. tnn
