JAIPUR: The state witnessed heavy rainfall with the majority of the places receiving spells varying from 130 mm to 10 mm. The Ladpura area in Kota witnessed a rainfall of 130 mm which was highest in the state on Saturday.

The Jaipur Met office stated that the heavy rainfall activity will continue for the next couple of days. People in Kota woke up amidst heavy showers. Roads in various parts of the city were flooded and at many places vehicles including four-wheelers and two-wheelers witnessed breakdown due to heavy showers and flooding.

The rainfall activity was widespread across the state when almost every part of the state witnessed heavy to moderate showers.

Ladpura (Kota) was followed by Jaipur where a rainfall of 110 mm was recorded, Bakani (Jhalawar) 90, Bidasar (Churu) 80, Sanganer (Jaipur) 80, Jayal (Nagar) 80. Also many other places witnessed rainfall varying from 70 mm to 10 mm. In this season, so far, Rajasthan has received 53% higher rainfall compared to what it had till July 23 in 2021. “So far the average rainfall of Rajasthan is 247.5 mm compared to 162.0 mm received till July 23 in 2021. This has so far been a good monsoon rainfall in the state,” said an officer with the Jaipur Met office.

Presently eastern Rajasthan and its districts including Jaipur, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Alwar and Bharatpur have been getting good rainfall. In its forecast Jaipur Met office stated that heavy rainfall activity will continue in the eastern Rajasthan and mild to moderate showers will continue in the western Rajasthan. Also, the continuous rainfall has helped in increasing the water level of the dams across the state. TNN
