Justice Dalveer Bhandari visits Nakoda temple

JAISALMER: Justice Dalveer Bhandari after being nominated to the last seat of International Court of Justice (ICJ),

Hague

, visited the

Nakoda Jain Temple

in

Balotara

sub-division in Barmer district with his family on Tuesday. He was welcomed by the Nakoda Trust. On this occasion, district judge Madan Gopal Vyas, ASP Kailash Dan Ratnu, SDO Bhagirath Choudhary and others were present.

Later he will go back to Jodhpur and from there he will leave for Delhi. Justice Bhandari was on a personal trip to the temple with his family. After being nominated at ICJ, he came to Jodhpur to meet his friends and relatives on Monday and reached Nakoda on Tuesday.

Justice Bhandari has been elected for the second time at the ICJ. After a long process of election, his competitor British Justice Christopher Greenwood withdrew his candidature, after which justice Bhandari was announced elected. He is the second Indian to reach the ICJ. Before him justice Nagendra Singh was elected twice to this court.

This is unprecedented victory of Indian diplomacy in the UN because in 12th round in UN, permanent representative Matthew Rycroft gauging the strong situation of Justice Bhandari withdrew Greenwood’s name. In the 71-year history of ICJ, for the first time, there is no member from Britain.

Justice Bhandari got 183 votes in

UN General Assembly

, while all the 15 members of UN Security Council voted for Bhandari.
