Jats threaten stir over reservation
Alwar: Congress MLA Vishvendra Singh said that the Jats of Bharatpur and Dholpur would relaunch an agitation for reservation from Friday if the government fails to fulfil their demands by Thursday evening.
Addressing a media conference, he said that the government had sought time till Thursday evening and if it fails to honour its promise, the Jats would be again hit the streets.
The demands of the Jats include reservation for the Jats of Bharatpur and Dholpur in OBC at the Centre and the withdrawal of cases registered during the previous agitations.
The Jats under the leadership of Vishvendra Singh had sit on a dharna in front of the district police office on October 2 and declared that if the government fails to withdraw the cases within the next two days the Jats would launch another agitation from October 5. But the efforts on the part of the district administration to dissuade the Jats on the path of another agitation has not been fruitful till the filing of this report.
The co-ordinator of the Bharatpur -Dholpur Jats Arakashan Sangarsh samiti Nem Singh was also present on the occasion.
Vishvendra Singh is the Congress MLA representing Deeg-Kumher assembly seat and is also a member of the erstwhile Bharatpur royal family.
