Jaisalmer: In a bid to bring dropout girls back to schools in the district, collector
Pratibha Singh has initiated a unique ‘School Padharo Jaisane ki Ladli’ scheme to impart education door-to-door.
As per the scheme, girls in the age group of 11 to 18 years who have dropped out from schools will be identified and will be taught through mobile banks in their villages. The district, which ranked 32nd out of 33 districts in terms of education, has a low literacy rate of 39.71%.
With the help of many NGOs, government institutions and influential people of villages, this scheme will be run as a public movement and the level of education will be improved through this campaign.
Confirming this, Singh said that Jaisalmer is lagging behind in the education sector. Many campaigns have been started to improve the education level especially among the girls and to promote them. Under this scheme, girls aged 11 to 18 years who have dropped out from the schools till December 2021, due to domestic circumstances, lack of higher classes, family pressure, lack of girls’ schools in the village will be linked to education again.
She said that a survey was conducted in which 1660 girls were identified who had dropped out due to some reasons. Under this scheme, a teacher will visit a village in a mobile van and teach such girls in groups. Even their guardians will be persuaded to link their daughters to education again and promote them.
The district collector said that in the survey, it was also found that many schools don't have toilets, many girls were married in their childhood and there is a lack of senior classes in the schools. Such loopholes will be corrected and literacy awareness programmes will be held to influential villagers.
Financial approval has been received to buy three vehicles and a strategy has been made. “I hope that in the coming days, this scheme will be started which will bring a new education revolution in the district,” said Singh.
