JAIPUR: The academic council of Rajasthan University on Friday, in a meeting, decided that in accordance with the new education policy and UGC guidelines, mandatory internships for undergraduate students will be implemented in the university. To facilitate this, counsellors will be appointed in colleges to oversee these internships.
The academic council met on Friday under the chairpersonship of vice-chancellor prof Alpana Kateja. The meeting focused on various academic matters and resulted in several important decisions. The VC also announced plans to honour teachers who have excelled in academics on Teacher's Day this year and emphasised the importance of participation in this year's Chancellor's award.
The council made the decision to rename the M.A. Dramatics course to Master of Performing Arts (MPA, Dramatics).
Addressing the transition to the new education policy, the council set a maximum completion period of six years for courses previously under the annual system. This pronouncement provides a clear timeframe for students while allowing some flexibility in their academic progression.
The council also established a new procedure for handling changes in students' personal details. When modifications are made to information such as names or parents' names, the university will now mention both the previous and changed names on official documents, said officials.
