The order came on Monday, a day before Rajasthan Royals is set to play their league match against Royal Challengers at SMS Stadium. In the earlier order on March, 26 the single bench comprising Justice V S Siradhana had said that the IPL franchise should distribute passes by consulting former Ranji team captain Vinod Mathur. It was also stated that passes should be distributed in compliance to the court order of May, 11, 2018 which had asked the RCA and franchise to distribute passes to the former and present players of Rajasthan Ranaji team, current players of Under-23 and Under-19, Current senior women cricketers and secretary, district cricket association.
Joshi moved an appeal through his counsel Rajendra Prasad before the division bench, against the single bench order. The bench comprising Justice Mohammad Rafiq and Govardhan Bardhar set aside the previous order passed on March, 26 on the basis that no application was filed by the petitioner in this regard. The order is a relief to the RCA, President CP Joshi through which the distribution of passes would be his prerogative.
On another application in the court alleging irregularities in the distribution of complimentary passes for the match the court quoted Supreme Court’s order of March 14 this year which had stated that cases relating to BCCI and other cricket association should not be taken up in the court.
