JAIPUR: Two months after unearthing a multi-crore fraud by Gold Sukh Trade India Limited, a multi-level marketing company, city police arrested one of the fleeing directors along with his wife from Delhi airport.Narendra Singh (52) and his wife Saroj Kanwar (48) were nabbed by a team of Jaipur police when the couple arrived at
Indira Gandhi International Airport In Delhi from Bangkok on Saturday afternoon.
After completing the formalities, the couple was brought to Jaipur on Sunday. They would be produced before a local court on Monday, police said.
"We were in touch with Interpol authorities in Bangkok and discussed the ways to bring the accused to Delhi. Initially they suggested us extradition, but it was a bit lengthy. Later, it was decided to deport the couple to Delhi. The Interpol officers in Delhi intimated us about their scheduled arrival and thus we sent a team to arrest them," commissioner of police, B L Soni, told TOI on Sunday.
The couple was taken aback when they found Jaipur police outside the airport.
"We waited for them till they came out of the main gate of the Indira Gandhi airport and later took them in custody. They told us that they were planning to shift to some other state to evade arrest," said an officer who had gone to Delhi to arrest the accused.
Asked if the police would be able to locate other fleeing directors, additional deputy commissioner of police (south),
Karan Sharma, said: "During preliminary interrogation, the accused has claimed that he was never been in touch with the other directors in Bangkok."
Thousands of investors were taken aback on the morning on November 23 when they found the office of Gold Sukh Trade India Limited was locked and its directors - Narendra Singh
, Manvendra Singh, Pramod Sharma and Mahendra Kumar -- missing. Later, the police got a red-corner notice issued against the directors and had also arrested 16 persons in this connection. Meanwhile, the police headquarters had also put six cops on awaiting posting orders (APO), which includes two assistant commissioners of police (ACP) and three station house officers (SHO).
