CM Sharma’s advisers will ‘ruin him’, warns Gehlot

Jaipur: Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot Monday sought to quell a brewing political row over his recent remarks on dynastic politics, asserting that he opposes family interference in govt functioning, not their entry into politics. Hitting out at Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for "twisting" his words, Gehlot warned that the CM's current advisers will ultimately "ruin him".Addressing the media in Jaipur, Gehlot said his original comment was aimed at ensuring clean governance, not discouraging political participation. "I said children should be kept away from the govt, not politics. What is wrong with that?" he asked. Taking a swipe at the BJP leadership, Gehlot urged Sharma and other leaders to encourage their own families to join public life. "Be it sons, daughters, or relatives—if they come forward, the new generation will benefit from your experience," he said.The clarification comes on the heels of Sharma's recent speech in Jamwa-Ramgarh, where the CM took a dig at Gehlot's political relevance and specifically referenced his son, Vaibhav Gehlot. Refuting allegations of promoting dynasty politics, Gehlot firmly distanced himself from his son's political journey and his association with the Rajasthan Cricket Association."We set an example. The entire family lived separately. I did not allow interference in govt matters," Gehlot said, emphasizing that his son lived independently in a rented house.
